GPA CEO Paul Flynn says a new three-year strategy for the organisation and its membership will be rolled out next month.
In an in-depth interview with Damian Lawlor for eir sport's Press Pack, he also revealed that the organisation is in discussion with the GAA over a new deal for players.
"We are a players association. We are led by players and for the players," he said.
"We are going to role out a new strategy in April, a three-year strategy and that is going to be the core of it, sustainable amateurism."
On the GAA, he added: "We have a very strong relationship with the GAA.
"There is a bit of noise in the system at the moment as we are negotiating a new deal for the players. But once that is completed we will drive on."
