Jonathan Sexton will miss Leinster's opening Rainbow Cup game against Munster this Saturday (LIVE on eir sport 1 from 7pm) as he continues his recovery from a head injury.
Sexton began graduated return-to-play protocols after suffering the injury in the Champions Cup victory over Exeter a fortnight ago and, according to a club statement, is now undergoing further assessment before being given the all clear.
However, there was positive news elsewhere for Blues fans with Caelan Doris (head), James Ryan (head). Garry Ringrose (ankle), Will Connors (knee) and Jamison Gibson-Park are set to step up their training this week with a view to possibly making a return against Munster.
Doris has been out of action since January and was forced to withdraw from Ireland’s Six Nations squad, while a similar injury has seen Ryan sidelined since mid-February.
Highly-rated pair Scott Penny and Tommy O’Brien will definitely be available for selection after making full recoveries from hand and ankle injuries respectively.
