Six join Connacht exodus

A further six players are to leave Connacht following the conclusion of their 2020-21 campaign, the club has announced.

Conor Dean, Stephen Kerins, Colm de Buitléar, Conor Kenny, Paddy McAllister and Cillian Gallagher are all set to depart The Sportsground with immediate effect.

The announcement comes following news that Quinn Roux, Stephen Fitzgerald and Sean O’Brien are also leaving.

Fitzgerald has been forced to retire due to injury, O’Brien is moving to Exeter Chiefs, while Roux is yet to make an announcement on where he will be playing his rugby next season.

“There will always be comings and goings in professional rugby,” Connacht head coach Andy Friend said.

“I’d like to wish all the players every success in the future, whether they are looking to further their playing careers or go down a new path.

"They have made a lot of sacrifices, particularly in the last year while we as a group dealt with the pandemic, so I thank them for that also.

“They will always be welcome back to The Sportsground.”
